The Programme Unit of the Interventions Division in North Wales is charged with delivering a comprehensive range of accredited programmes designed to address offending behaviour and personal learning associated with this. The Unit is also committed to bringing on stream new nationally accredited provision as and when ‘rolled out’. In addition commitments are pursued to develop additional provision relevant to the needs of the local environment either on a case specific basis or in relation to emergent themes associated with need and offending which require attention.
The programme delivery portfolio of staff in the Unit is cross-cutting. Within the wider Interventions Division moreover, staff are encouraged to develop a programme delivery skill base, and some Approved Premises and Unpaid Work staff are becoming involved in cross-over provision. Staff working for partner organisations also access training in specific programmes, building capacity, expanding the skill base within the wider environment. With specific reference to some programmes, education ‘qualifications’ have been mapped into the programme framework. Using the Open College Network. These programmes currently offer this added value for participants in:
Enhanced Thinking Skills
One to One
Drink Impaired Driving
It is planned to expand this capability across a wider range of programmes over the coming 2 years. Ensuring that programme participation can deliver credit which has a currency within the wider environment and support progress into training, educational and employment opportunities. The majority of accredited programmes are group based.
