Unpaid Work

One of the many gardening projects

Unpaid Work is a requirement of a Court sentence requiring offenders to undertake useful and purposeful work which benefits the community. Community Payback is a core theme of the provision. It delivers reparation for offences committed combined with restriction of liberty and punishment.

Whilst undertaking Unpaid Work service users have the opportunity to learn new skills and also recognition through complete Open College Network units, first aid certificates, basic skills etc. which will enhance the potential of participants to re-enter employment or access further training / education.

The Unpaid Work requirement can be stand alone or one element of a combination of requirements included in a community sentence. The requirement can be anything from 40 to 300 hours. A wide range of opportunities to make recompense for offending are provided.

Group based projects frequently associated with community safety, environmental improvements and the associated needs of local communities are delivered in all 6 Local Authority areas across North Wales. Individual placements can also be provided, focused on assisting the voluntary sector in the area.
