The NWPA recognises the critical role that employment can play in the rehabilitation of offenders. To address this area of need it continues to develop a partnership platform involving a range of providers geared to facilitating access for service users to provisions which can assist the pursuit of employment opportunities and / or can address skill deficits and learning needs which are barriers to employment, training and education.
A profile of current provision is detailed under Partnerships.
‘In house’ provision is geared to assessment and sign posting either through Offender Managers or associated interventions pathways.
Unpaid Work is positively geared up to this agenda. With basic skills assessment integrated into induction processes. In addition Unpaid Work provision is designed to provide skill base learning opportunities and can be a vehicle to obtain work / training related qualifications. Unpaid Work participants can enrol with the Open College Network and obtain a range of units which are mapped into the provision.
A number of accredited programmes also provide access to Open College Network qualifications.
