Community Order

Courtroom session

A Community Order will be imposed for a set period of time.  One or more 'requirements' will be added to the order.  These are the conditions that the offender needs to meet to successfully complete their order.  Generally, an offence of low seriousness will result in one 'requirement' added to the order.  A more serioius offence may result three or four.

A community sentence, either a Community Order or Suspended Sentence Order, allows the offender to remain in the community and keep their job, home and family links.  However, it imposes conditions or requirements by which the offender must abide.
